The above bullion coins will be released in various sizes and mintage limits.

The Perth Mint is also releasing Australian Lunar Series II 2014 Year of the Horse Gold and Silver Proof Coins on September 3rd as detailed in this post on Silver Lunar:

As detailed in a recent article, I think the pick of the lunar coins will be the 1oz

The 2014 Lunar Series Gold & Silver Bullion Series Coins (Year of the Horse) will come with the usual 30,000 limit for 1oz Gold coins and 300,000 limit for 1oz Silver. The other sizes (1/2oz, 2oz, 5oz, 10oz) are unlimited in mintage, but production ends at the end of the year they are dated (2014), except for the kilo bullion Horse which can be produced until the Series 2 Lunar Coin set is finished later this decade.

If you are interested in regular updates on lunar coins I would recommend visiting www.SilverLunar.com (or click here to subscribe to Silver Lunar posts by email).

The 2014 Kookaburra Series Silver Bullion Coins are minted in various sizes, the 1oz coin is limited to 500,000 this year as it was in 2011-2013 (over 1990-2010 it was limited to 300,000 coins).

The 2014 Koala Series Silver Bullion Coins are unlimited in mintage and is only produced up to the end of the year it's dated. Earlier years have started attracting a premium due to the low number minted, but 2011 saw Koala coin sales go mental. Sticking with the lower mintage Lunar & Kookaburra coins while they are available seems like a smarter move than buying the 1oz 2014 Koala whose mintage won't be known until after the end of 2014.

  2. I woke up early expecting to see the 2 oz silver proof coin available on the Perth Website.
For those of us who purchased the 2 oz silver proof 12 coin set, do you know why it was not included in the release?

  3. Not sure sorry robert, but I believe there was wording on the original release page for the 2oz proof set that indicated buyers would be guaranteed the future coins, so you may receive an advance offer before they are released publicly.

  4. I have emailed Perth Mint to confirm and see if I can get a released date for the 2oz Proof Lunar Coin, will respond back here once I know.

  5. Thanks, that would be great.
I emailed Perth a week ago about the prospect of an advanced offer on the 2 oz coin for those of us who purchased the 12 coin collection, but was told I would have to wait for the general release on Sept 3rd.
    I'll keep checking ;)

  6. Response from Perth Mint:

"All those who purchased the Australian Lunar Series II 2oz Silver Proof Coin Collection (with the first six coins) will receive a letter / email inviting them to secure the 2014 Year of the Horse release. These notifications will be sent out by the Mint in November. It will include details of how long their coin will be reserved and the final order date should they wish to proceed."

  8. Does anyone know a good source (price) for the latest 2014 New Zealand $2 gilded Horse coins (with the box and COA)? I got the Dragon and the Snake and felt they were nicely done.

  9. I ordered my Dragon through Maggie who often does group buys from various US sites, may be worth dropping an email: http://www.maggiesbullion.com/index.php?act=viewDoc&docId=2
